Israeli VoIP
technology provider AudioCodes (News - Alert) announced on Thursday that it will acquire CTI Squared Ltd. (CTI2), a provider of messaging and communications platforms. According to AudioCodes, the company will do this by purchasing CTI's remaining outstanding shares for $10 million in cash.
CTI2 provides platforms that integrate data and voice messaging services over Internet, intranet, PSTN
, cellular, cable and enterprise networks. The company is also based in Israel and it is staffed by approximately 30 people.
"We are very pleased to announce the acquisition of CTI Squared," said AudioCodes' chairman, president and CEO Shabtai Adlersberg in a statement. "This acquisition further strengthens our strategic initiative to become a key supplier of Converged IP
Communication products and solutions to Service Providers worldwide. The CTI2 advanced messaging and communication platforms, together with our IPmedia(TM) IMS-compliant MRFP's (Media Resource Function Processor, also known as Media Servers), enhances our ability to offer revenue generating bundled applications for Wireline, Wireless, Cable, IMS
and Fixed- Mobile-Convergence (News - Alert) markets."
AudioCodes has been dealing with CTI2 since last year. Indeed, the company announced that it acquired 10 percent of the outstanding shares of CTI2 for a purchase price of $1 million last February. Last November, AudioCodes and CTI2 also announced that they agreed to jointly develop an all IP network for Triple Play (News - Alert) service delivery for FASTWEB—one of Italy's largest fixed telephony operator.
"We believe that CTI2 has built a strong team that has delivered field- proven enhanced messaging and communications platforms that fit well with AudioCodes' vision of enabling IMS networks," said Erez Marom, CEO of CTI2. "This acquisition offers an even better future for our employees, customers and partners as we combine CTI2's products with AudioCodes financial strength, product portfolio and proven capability to deliver to NEPs and service providers."
The move could enable designers to now build higher performance IP-based fax systems, while needing at the same time not only to retain their existing PSTN infrastructure, but also to avoid purchasing expensive dedicated fax blades. Designers could do this by deploying the newly available NET SatisFAXtion and AudioCodes' SIP media gateways combined.
