Wipro Technologies has joined the IMS Forum (News - Alert), a forum dedicated to the acceleration of IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS
) application and service interoperability.
Welcoming Wipro Technologies to the IMS Forum, Michael Khalilian, chairman & president IMS Forum said that Wipro’s expertise in IMS spanning across Service infrastructure, Network infrastructure and end user level integration will be very useful in helping them to bring about the early adoption of IMS and truly convergent services across the industry.
“Joining the IMS Forum gives us a global platform to evaluate and position our solutions in the IMS arena,” said Nagamani Murthy, vice president, Mobile & Consumer Electronics Group, Wipro Technologies in a statement.
“With the evolution of the IMS technology, Wipro has matured its IMS offerings towards becoming an integral part of the converged digital media delivery ecosystem,” she added.
According to Murthy, the engineering challenge in realizing the converged 'Digital Media' experience spans across device realization, network infrastructure development and service creation and delivery.
She believes Wipro is an ideal partner in realizing this Digital Media Experience due to its years of system integration experience in Mobile Devices and Consumer Electronics such as, Set-Top-Boxes, PMPs, Digital TVs, and Digital Cameras.
IMS Client Framework from Wipro enables IMS deployment and the development and deployment of new applications over various devices, independent of the underlying operating system. IMS Client Framework helps in the development of IMS applications which can be readily deployed over various platforms like Symbian (News - Alert), WinCE and Linux.
The company participated at the IMS Forum, IMS Plugfest II Interoperability event, where it successfully interoperated its IMS Client Framework and applications with IMS client and server solutions from multiple vendors.
IMS Plugfest II Interoperability event helped Wipro to benchmark its IMS solution's interoperability with many other components of the IMS Service delivery network.
The IMS Forum is a global, non-profit industry association devoted to interoperable IP
Multimedia Subsystems services and solutions.
