In the wake of the failed attempts by terrorists to cause explosions aboard airplanes earlier this month, the Department of Homeland Security has already lowered the threat level from “red” to “orange” for flights from the United Kingdom to the United States. The U.S. threat level remains at “orange” for all domestic and international flights, and the newly enacted ban on liquids and gels in carry-on baggage remains in full effect.

 

Said Secretary Michael Chertoff, “We are maintaining our heightened level of security for all flights both domestically and internationally.”

 

The recent security disruptions and tightening of travel restrictions has underscored the need for corporate travelers to update their pre-flight routines, and has forced many UK-bound travelers to face a reality of checked computers, lost luggage, and the potential corporate security risks associated with lost and stolen laptops.
