Film studio
Twentieth Century Fox, a unit of Fox News Corp., is all set to unveil its first eight movie titles on the new DVD format called Blu-ray,
reports Reuters. The titles will hit the market in November. The Blu-ray disks will be available at about $29.
Mike Dunn, global president of home entertainment at the studio, broke the news at the IFA electronics show in Berlin. He said Twentieth Century Fox’s latest Blue-ray titles include “Kingdom of Heaven” and “Ice Age.”
Twentieth Century has plans to distribute MGM titles on Blu-ray as well, including “The Usual Suspects.”
At the same time, the film studio has made it clear that it won’t be publishing titles on a similar format called HD DVD, Blu-ray’s biggest rival. HD DVD is capable of storing high definition films that come with more impressive picture detail and full surround sound.
