AT&T (News - Alert) U-verse customers will now be able to schedule and manage their U-verse TV recordings from AT&T wireless phones and devices. This feature brings all users the option and functionality of the U-verse TV digital video recorder (DVR) to the three screens central to their lives - which are wireless devices, the television and the personal computer.

“Any television viewer can relate to the frustration of forgetting to program his or her DVR,” said Rick Welday, chief marketing officer, AT&T Consumer, in a press release. “Now, whether they’re at the airport or stuck in traffic, AT&T U-verse customers can rest assured they won’t miss their favourite shows. This is one more way that AT&T is putting customers in control of their entertainment experience, and it’s another compelling feature from AT&T U-verse that goes beyond cable offerings.”

Now AT&T U-verse TV and Internet customers can use any compatible AT&T wireless phone or handset and search for U-verse TV program listings. They can also schedule program or series recordings, and delete or manage stored DVR content. The ability to access wirelessly the U-verse DVR system adds to a previous feature which gave U-verse TV and Internet customers Web remote access to their DVR on a PC using the AT&T Yahoo!(R) broadband portal.

AT&T U-verse TV provides customers with exceptional and outstanding benefits which are unmatched by cable providers today. Some of these benefits include:

--The ability to record up to four programs at once
--HD-capable DVR, which allows customers to pause, rewind, replay and record live TV, at no extra charge with most programming packages
--More High Definition (HD) programming than offered by local cable providers in most markets (25 HD channels)
--Web Remote Access to DVR, which allows U-verse TV and Internet customers to schedule recordings using their AT&T Yahoo! Account
--Fast channel-changing, reducing the delay experienced with other digital video services
--Built-in picture-in-picture functionality that allows subscribers to "channel surf" on any television without leaving the program they're watching
--Advanced search capabilities so customers can search for programs using title or actor's name
--Mobile Remote Access to DVR

What is important to note is that the Mobile Remote Access to the DVR is available at no extra charge for AT&T U-verse customers that subscribe to both U-verse TV and Internet service. However, wireless service and data usage must be purchased separately.

AT&T’s strategy to deploy next-generation video services reflects its vision to become every customer’s preferred communications and entertainment provider and also to deliver a video solution through its traditional footprint that provides simplicity, greater value and flexibility than its competitors.
