Furthering its development in the mobile WiMAX community, Beceem Communications announced it has received a considerable investment from Intel Corporation’s Intel Capital.

The partnership between the two companies lends a boost to WiMAX technology, instituting WiMAX as the most efficient wireless technology available. Beceem’s attention on the 802.16e Mobile WiMAX market has allowed the corporation to be a major player in advanced chipset offerings.

“This investment from Intel Capital underscores our commitment to a vibrant ecosystem that has multiple product sources at all levels,” said Shahin Hedayat, CEO & Co-founder of Beceem.

According to Beceem’s website, the largest challenge for wireless broadband is the technology’s unpredictability, leaving the end user with a negative experience. Beceem speaks to this challenge by dealing with the arbitrary, fast changing nature of wireless, developing advanced wireless methods for mobile broadband systems.

“The collaboration with Beceem underscores Intel’s philosophy that the early availability of high performance chipset solutions is important for the adoption of Mobile WiMAX by operators,” said Sriram Viswanathan, VP and managing director of Intel Capital in a press release. “This investment from Intel Capital underscores our commitment to a vibrant ecosystem that has multiple product sources at all levels.”

Beceem played an integral role in classifying the first Mobile WiMAX profile for the WiMAX Forum.

Intel Capital invests in technology companies targeting digital entertainment, enterprise computing, networking and communications, software development and manufacturing.
