Klausner Technologies Sues Windstream for Visual Voicemail Patent Infringement

May 13, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Klausner Technologies, Inc. announced that it has filed suit against Windstream Corp. for patent infringement under its U.S. Visual Voicemail patents.

According to a release, the lawsuit is based on the sale in the United States of Windstream's enterprise voicemail products such as Windstream Hosted VoIP and Data CommPortal and Voicemail to Email integration, which allow users to selectively retrieve enterprise voicemail and which infringe Klausner Technologies' Visual Voicemail Patents.

Klausner Technologies currently has 33 Visual Voicemail patent licensees under its U.S., European, and Asian patents, including U.S. and European mobile operators, international cell phone manufacturers, cable/VOIP providers as well as providers of Visual Voicemail products and services for the enterprise market. Avaya Inc. has recently signed a patent license under the Klausner Technologies' Visual Voicemail patents for its own enterprise voicemail products.

"33 companies worldwide have now signed patent license agreements with us under our Visual Voicemail patents. As the inventor of these patents and on behalf of our company, I just can't allow unlicensed companies to use our IP," said Judah Klausner, Klausner Technologies' President. The suit has been filed in federal court in the Eastern District of Texas by the California law firm of Dovel & Luner.
