ATCOM Business Telecom Installs VoIP for a North Carolina County

ATCOM Business Telecom Solutions said today that it’s installed a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications system for Lee County in Sanford, North Carolina. Lee County’s new VoIP system provides communications across the main government center and many remote sites that are connected by fiber to the main complex.

Leveraging the VoIP connectivity, the county is able to provide its employees with a community office environment. VoIP connectivity enables end users to access co-workers in other facilities by simply dialing their extension. Because the end users are able to transport their phones from office to office, the VoIP infrastructure will also allow for easy administration in an organization of Lee County’s size, officials said.

The county’s information technology director, Ryan Draughn, said ATCOM provided a great service for the county as the first deployment of IP telephony in the government offices. He said the analysis, planning, and implementation were a huge success and will benefit county employees in the future.

Lee County offices are using a solution that includes a Unified Messaging system, providing access to e-mail, voicemail and faxes, all from the end users e-mail inbox. Lee County may add additional government buildings to their VoIP network as they expand on this technology to create a seamless voice network connecting all of their facilities.

According to ATCOM, future applications may include remote IP workers and mobility solutions as the organization continues to roll out productivity enhancing applications to its end users.

“We look forward to a strong relationship with ATCOM into the future,” Draughn said.

Founded in 1979, ATCOM Business Telecom Solutions is a communication solutions provider with an expertise in VoIP technology. The company recently announced that the firm has signed an agreement with Crumley & Associates, PC to provide the practice with the latest VoIP technologies.

With this technology, Crumley & Associates, PC will be able to connect its ten remote offices and utilize the latest Unified Messaging applications for retrieving all messages from one source.
