StratoComm Designs National Wireless IT Infrastructure in Turkmenistan
By Michael Dinan, TMCnet Editor
StratoComm Corporation today announced that it’s designing a wireless Internet technology infrastructure to service five major cities in Turkmenistan.
StratoComm’s system design will support Voice over Internet Protocol, Internet and Broadcast services to the capital city of Ashgabat, with additional service to the port city of Turkmanbashi, as well as Mary, Turkmenabat and Dashoquz.
Turkmenistan, with a population of approximately 5.2 million people, is located directly north of the countries of Iran and Afghanistan. It’s interested in developing information technology infrastructure as part of an effort to vitalize growth in their medical, scientific and educational communities with minimal impact to its unique culture, according to StratoComm.
The company says its turn-key system provides the perfect solution to Turkmenistan’s uniquely challenging opportunity. StratoComm’s Transitional Telecommunications System (TTS), using “lighter-than-air” technology, will deliver services to each city within the system and also create reliable communications links among all five cities, according to StratoComm.
The TTS is designed to support transition to StratoComm’s so-called “Stratospheric Telecommunications System” when commercially available, the company said.
The system will allow telemedicine to become a reality in a country difficult to access, enabling doctors to remotely confer regarding patient treatment, according to StratoComm.
Scientists and researchers will be able to access data on international developments quickly and easily, the company said.
School administrators and teachers will have ready access to online services, the company said, and the Turkmenistan government will be better equipped to support their petroleum and gasoline industries along the Caspian Sea.
Spartacus-Consulting, LLC, a U.S.-based business and information technology company that specializes in rapid development and deployment of creative IT solutions is StratoComm’s collaborator on the project.
Spartacus officials say they presented the designed system in early May, and a formal governmental response is anticipated within the coming weeks.
StratoComm Corporation develops and provides telecommunications infrastructure technologies with a specific focus to the delivery of ubiquitous and cost-sensitive communication services to the developing world.
The company is committed to the allocation of a portion of each system’s service capacity for the provision of low cost or no cost social and economic outreach programs.
