Ixia and F5 Networks Announce Public Test of SSL Performance in Enterprise-Class ADC
By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor
Ixia (News
- Alert), a provider of converged IP performance test systems and service verification platforms, and F5 Networks, a dealer in Application Delivery Networking (ADN), announced the largest public test of SSL performance in an enterprise-class application delivery controller (ADC (News
- Alert)).
The test is stated to have demonstrated the astonishing performance of F5’s VIPRION 2400 ADC and Ixia's Xcellon-Ultra XT80 and IxLoad test applications. Ixia stated that it will demonstrate the test at the Interop (News - Alert) Las Vegas from May 8-12.
According to F5 Networks, the VIPRION 2400 ADC is for midsize to large enterprises that need the flexibility of adding performance on demand while managing cost. A real pay-as-you-grow model, VIPRION 2400 offers on-demand throughput, SSL, compression, and CPU resources, with no disruption or management challenges.
Ixia explained that the Xcellon-Ultra validates the performance of a wide range of devices that deliver multiplay services, including web application servers, application-aware firewalls, application delivery controllers, deep-packet inspection and security platforms. It ensures that carrier and data center networks are ready to deliver highest quality of service to millions of mobile and fixed subscribers.
IxLoad is a scalable solution for testing converged multiplay services, application delivery platforms, and security devices and systems. It emulates data, voice, and video subscribers and associated protocols to ensure quality of experience (QoE) and also applies malware and distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks for security effectiveness and accuracy testing.
Xcellon-Ultra's massive line rate, coupled with IxLoad's advanced layer 4-7 capabilities, can perform stateful SSL negotiation and encryption/decryption testing at 20Gbps with 400K connections – a milestone in the test and measurement industry.
Ixia asserted that the SSL performance is an industry mandate and its relevance in the enterprise continues to expand with the growth of social networking, mobility, and cloud applications. F5 continues to set the benchmark by providing the highest levels of throughput and transactions per second available.
Officials with F5 commented that mid-to-large sized enterprises are continually challenged by the increasing demand for connections and transactions per second. F5 continually relies on Ixia to provide a means of validating the performance of our VIPRION product line.
