Internet Security provider, AVG Technologies unveiled its latest Internet threat protection solution – the AVG Internet Security 8.0 that aims at providing complete online protection to consumers and SMBs. The solution combines Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Anti-Rootkit, Anti-Spam, LinkScanner and Firewall system and promises users a protection mechanism in line with the company’s motto - “tough on threats, easy on you”

Over the years, security threats have undergone a tremendous change and today, some of the malware are more criminal in nature and can harm the computer even without the user’s intervention. Earlier, the user’s computer was exploited only when certain unprotected sites were visited. However, the rise in the online threats has started affecting popular legitimate web sites such as Google (News - Alert), Facebook and MySpace. AVG’s solution protects users against drive-by downloads and alerts users of possible threats in the search engine’s results.

 

Some of the features in the new release from AVG include New Anti-Exploit Technology, New Web Shield, New High Performance Scanning Engine, New User Interface, New Anti-Rootkit, New Firewall, Improved Anti-Virus, Improved Resident Shield and Anti-Spam features. All of these features ensure that complete online safety is provided for both a novice aswell as for the expert user. The expert user has the option of customizing the security features to best suit his needs.
