BlueSpace and Sun Microsystems Expand Alliance for TransMail Trusted Edition
By Jai C.S. TMCnet Contributor Enterprise software company BlueSpace Software Corp. has reportedly expanded its partnership with Sun Microsystems (News - Alert).
Under the extended partnership, Sun Federal Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sun Microsystems, will resell BlueSpace TransMail Trusted Edition to defense and intelligence customers. Both companies will also work collaboratively with other Sun Partners on sales, marketing, services and support. Bluespace provides electronic messaging and mail software solutions. The company developed TransMail, a unique messaging technology which is used for time critical and confidential records. TransMail Trusted Edition is a multi-level trusted solution designed specifically for the Defense and Intelligence communities. It offers a single box for viewing messages at any security level. "Multi-level messaging is such an important collaborative and knowledge based application for the intelligence community," said Bill Vass, president, Sun Federal, in a press release. He added, "Our partnership with BlueSpace provides our customers with infrastructure and critical applications that enable them to meet their mission objectives faster, with less risk and at lower cost." Justin Marston, CEO of BlueSpace, said the company has made major investments recently and is now at the forefront of delivering infrastructure for secure, multi-level applications. He said that by leveraging the unique capabilities of Solaris with Trusted Extensions, and the Sun Ray desktop, the company will be able to offer better solutions, on time. Edward Bryant, Technical Director at UCDMO, said BlueSpace TransMail Trusted Edition is a technology that has a critical capability to meet information sharing requirements. Unified Cross Domain Management Office (UCDMO) was created in July 2006 to promote the cross-domain solution (CDS) and multi-level secure (MLS) ecosystems. Sun and BlueSpace are further collaborating on the BlueSpace Trusted Client Framework (TCF), which connects mutually isolated, single-level application services to provide multi-level application. According to Klaus Weidner, principal consultant at Atsec (a common criteria testing laboratory in the U.S.), TCF makes it feasible to pursue a high assurance level with minimized security testing and accreditation footprint. -------- Jai C.S. is a contributing editor for TMCnet.
