WYDE Voice Selects Prosody X Media Processing Technology

Aculab (News - Alert), a provider of enabling technology for the communications market, has announced that WYDE Voice, a new start-up venture backed by Free Conferencing Corp. founder and CEO David Erickson, has selected the Prosody X media processing technology.

This selection was made to support WYDE Voice’s new VM1000/3000 real-time voice conferencing appliances that support 16-bit, 16 kHz voice quality and deliver what is positioned as an unparalleled user experience.

“When WYDE Voice first presented their market focus and requirements for wideband audio, we immediately saw the market potential and impact on the telecom industry,” says Chris Gravett, Aculab’s Sales and Marketing Director, in a statement.

“The Prosody X architecture was developed with exactly this type of high value application in mind. The challenge for both companies was to quickly integrate the iSAC codecs and this required true partnership and innovation. We have enjoyed the collaboration with the WYDE Voice team commend them on bringing high quality, industry-changing products so quickly to market.”

The new WYDE 16 kHz wideband voice solution will leverage the Asterisk (News - Alert) platform and is built using Aculab’s Prosody X media processing technology. This solution enables service providers, universities, government agencies and enterprises to deliver a broad range of affordable, high-quality audio conferencing solutions.

WYDE Voice models offer carrier grade reliability and flexible call flow design in highly scalable units that can accommodate from 500 to 7000 concurrent G.711 callers and up to 3000 16 bit/16 kHz iSAC callers while also offering incredible price performance.

“During our evaluation of technology of partners, Aculab rose to the forefront when we considered experience, innovation, and a reputation for a solid commitment to customer success,” said Michael Eastman, Vice President of Global Sales for WYDE Voice, in the company statement.

“The Prosody X architecture is extremely well suited for our application. Working in tandem, we were quickly delivered the voice mixing, voice processing, and iSAC functionality that our users required in a conferencing appliance. We will continue to work with Aculab to enhance the performance of their Prosody X product within our WYDE Voice units and hope to add even more capabilities in the near future.”

The Prosody product range provides feature rich and high density media processing, call control signaling and digital network connectivity. The portfolio of media processing platforms has been specifically designed to enhance a range of communications solutions, from contact center and IVR systems to prepaid and SMS platforms, targeted at both carrier and enterprise markets.

The selection of Aculab’s Prosody X architecture is expected to help position WYDE Voice as a powerful, high value application to meet the unique needs of its diverse client base. By partnering with a proven performer in the field, WYDE Voice will be able to promote rapid adoption of its solution.
