PepsiAmericas Awards $4.3 Million Networking Services Contract to AT&T
By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor
PepsiAmericas, a manufacturer, seller and distributor of PepsiCo beverages, has renewed a contract with AT&T (News - Alert) for communications and network operations services totaling more than $4 million.
Thanks to the contract, PepsiAmericas employees will now be able to experience faster and more reliable access and transmission on the company's internal network.
AT&T, as per the three year contract, will migrate PepsiAmericas' existing frame relay services over to AT&T's Virtual Private Network (VPN
) services, which are supported by Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology.
AT&T's MPLS technology is the steppingstone for convergence, allowing PepsiAmericas to better manage applications over the network while enhancing network reliability. The single network architecture also eases network management and monitoring responsibilities for PepsiAmericas.
PepsiAmericas' new VPN service will connect locations in the United States, Hungary and Romania, and will enable the deployment of advanced voice, data and video applications.
Moreover, AT&T has also provided PepsiAmericas with High Definition video-bridging technology that allows PepsiAmericas to easily connect all of their locations with a single click of a mouse.
"As PepsiAmericas continues to deliver beverages to consumers everywhere, we recognized the importance of a single set of network services that work on the same global scale as we do," Dave Edelheit, vice president of Enterprise Infrastructure, PepsiAmericas said.
"AT&T's MPLS
network will not only bring our many locations onto a single fast-track platform, but it will give us the business velocity to better collaborate across business units and partners globally."
