Golden Telecom, part of the VimpelCom Group, has selected ECI Telecom’s (News - Alert) XDM All-Range Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) and Multi-Service Transport Platform (MSTP) to expand its network capacity in and around the city of Moscow.

 

Golden Telecom (News - Alert) will deploy ECI’s DWDM solution with 10-degree WSS ROADM (News - Alert) in major sites across the Moscow Transport Network, allowing for forecast-tolerant and quick provisioning of services.

 

Golden Telecom expects that the deployment of ECI's XDM All-Range solution will allow for reduction in operating expenses (OPEX (News - Alert)) stemming from improved provisioning cycles. Also, the company believes that the deployment will result in capital expenditure (CAPEX) savings generated thanks to platform’s capabilities for cost effective deployment of the carrier’s region-wide fiber network built.

 

In addition, ECI's LightSoft network manager, ECI’s officials said, will provide simplified management of all networks layers such as SDH, data and the optical layer, which is expected to enable end-to-end provisioning under a single, unified management platform.
