Golden Telecom Selects ECI to Provide Its Metro DWDM/ROADM Network
By Anshu Shrivastava TMCnet Contributor Golden Telecom, part of the VimpelCom Group, has selected ECI Telecom’s (News - Alert) XDM All-Range Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) and Multi-Service Transport Platform (MSTP) to expand its network capacity in and around the city of Moscow.
Golden Telecom (News - Alert) will deploy ECI’s DWDM
Golden Telecom expects that the deployment of ECI's XDM All-Range solution will allow for reduction in operating expenses (OPEX (News - Alert)) stemming from improved provisioning cycles. Also, the company believes that the deployment will result in capital expenditure (CAPEX) savings generated thanks to platform’s capabilities for cost effective deployment of the carrier’s region-wide fiber network built.
In addition, ECI's LightSoft network manager, ECI’s officials said, will provide simplified management of all networks layers such as SDH, data and the optical layer, which is expected to enable end-to-end provisioning under a single, unified management platform.
LightSoft, with its unified graphical user interface, improves efficiency by providing users with a clear picture of the optical channels and available resources, according to ECI
“ECI has a long-standing relationship with Golden Telecom, representing close to a decade of close partnership, and we are proud to continue working with one of the most innovative operators in the Russian market,” said Boris Mirkin, President RBU Russia, CIS & Baltic States, of ECI Telecom.
He also said that this project is yet another testament to the “unique benefits” of our optical platform solutions which allow operators as Golden Telecom to maximize their service potential in a highly competitive market.
Golden Telecom is a facilities-based provider of integrated telecommunications and Internet services in major population centers throughout Russia and other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
