Dataram Corporation announced that it has upgraded Sun Microsystem’s Sun Fire X4600 M2 servers to 512GB of memory capacity.

Dataram designs and manufactures reliable, high capacity and innovative memory solutions. The company offers customized memory solutions for OEMs and memory upgrades for various companies such as - HP, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Dell, Intel and AMD (News - Alert) Opteron.

Dataram is said to be the first company to deliver the high capacity 8GB memory modules that enables half terabyte of main memory.

Earlier, the mainstream cost-effective x86 servers were not able to have such large capacity and only expensive high-end servers that ran on UNIX or mainframe operating systems would offer large memory capacity.

Fast response times play a key role while taking market-trading decisions. These can be accomplished by the entire database residing in main memory. The speed of main memory facilitates fast flow processing of information streaming from multiple news feeds, which can be achieved by current capability of 512GB in size.

Dataram’s DRSX4600M2/16GB memory upgrades incorporates two 8GB capacity PC2-5300, DDR2-667 Registered ECC dual-rank memory modules.

According to the company, the 32 memory upgrades have been installed in each of four servers that run real-time market analytics for a New York City financial services firm.

“We strive to deliver the products our customers need to maintain a competitive advantage in their respective markets. Dataram memory provides the speed and performance needed by doubling the capacity currently available,” said John Freeman, president and CEO of Dataram.

Sun Microsystems (News - Alert) Sun Fire X4600 M2 is said to be the only x86 server capable of a half terabyte of memory in a single node.

Dataram also announced the immediate availability of high capacity, cost saving memory upgrades for other servers as well and all feature a Lifetime Warranty.
