Tiscali International Network has recently revealed that the company has decided to partner with Equinix (News - Alert). This move has been made as the company seeks to make a foray into the German and French markets, leveraging the existing datacenters that Equinix already operates in these countries.

 

“We have partnered with Equinix in Europe because of the high quality and reliability of their IBX datacenters as well as for the opportunities Equinix offers to interconnect with important players and key customers across the world, providing TINet with an opportunity to expand our global network while enhancing reliability and performance and reducing overall costs,” said Paolo Gambini, sales and marketing director, Tiscali International Network (TINet). “To strengthen our presence in the European datacenter facilities of Equinix is part of our expansion plans of TINet footprint worldwide.”

 

Tiscali specializes in catering to the Internet Protocol – Multi Protocol Label Switching (IP-MPLS) market. Its products are designed only for the businesses operating within this segment. Currently, the company has clients spanning North America, and Asian countries such as Hong Kong and Singapore, in addition to its European operations. The company network consists of about 100 IP-MPLS units, and is also rumored to have a ‘next generation Internet’ network that has passed the development phase into production.

This agreement between the two companies, Equinix and Tiscali, is in keeping with TINet’s forays into various markets. The trend this company seems to have been following is to create a presence in various countries. These new markets include places such as Canada, the United States and Europe.

 

Equinix is a datacenter provider, with its flagship product, Equinix Internet Business Exchange (IBX), functioning as a core for many internet protocol (IP) based installations.
