Valcom (News - Alert), a company specializing in providing advanced facilities and production for the entertainment industry, announced its plans to purchase Faith TV, a Christian movie, documentary and biography channel. Valcom plans to re-launch the TV service as a family television network.

Faith TV currently broadcasts from Valcom’s Clearwater teleport facility which includes a large film library and a complete teleport/satellite farm with the ability to broadcast around the world via Internet, radio, or television.

The station currently transmits nationally on Sky Angel IPTV (News - Alert) with delivery of more than 1-million full-time and 17-million part-time direct to homes (DTH) via over 65 family TV and Radio channels.

According to Jim West, president of FaithTV, the partnership will enable the network to expand to traditional and emerging distribution markets.

“We see a tremendous potential in Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) as a new and effective way to reach new homes with our family-friendly programming."

“We believe our new programming lineup will be compelling for cable MSO's and DBS
operators as well. America's families want a safe haven for their families to be entertained, educated and edified."

The deal between Valcom and Faith TV is set to close September 30 and considering the great potential of the IPTV market, Valcom will, over the next two years, actively be building the network to reach its potential of 50 million homes.
