Multicast Provides Hosted TaaS for Adobe Flash Media Encoding Server Solution

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

Multicast will reportedly provide a hosted Transcoding-as-a-Service (TaaS) solution for the Adobe Flash Media Encoding Server software.

The TaaS solution is a decoupled component of Multicast's Internet Video Platform, Vidego, explained Multicast officials. The solution enables companies that don’t have the personnel or financial resources to deploy a premise-based server to encode content and communicate their message more quickly.

Multicast Media Technologies is pleased to be part of Adobe’s Flash Media Encoding Server software efforts and to help ensure all customers are able to access professional-level transcoding solutions, according to Lou Schwartz, CEO.

Schwartz stated that their hosted TaaS solution is powerful and reliable and allows for quick transcoding of most media formats. The company believes that through their TaaS technology, more businesses will be able to deliver rich multimedia content over the Internet.

When combined with Adobe’s Flash Media Encoding Server software, Multicast’s TaaS solution offers customers a customizable framework that allows companies to transform media content into a broad range of formats, such as Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows Media, MPEG-4, DivX, H.264, and others, to FLV or F4V. Once transcoded, companies can deliver multimedia content across a variety of devices including Web, mobile and kiosk.

Laurel Reitman, senior product manager for Flash Media Solutions at Adobe, noted that Multicast’s hosted Transcoding-as-a-Service solution provides customers with flexible options to take advantage of Adobe’s Flash Media Encoding Server to encode content for delivering high-quality streaming media experiences to their audiences.

This result in a hosted service that can scale depending on a customer's capacity needs, he added.

Multicast is an Internet Video Platform company delivering an end-to-end management and delivery service for live and on-demand video communications. Earlier this year, Multicast announced the full availability of turnkey live streaming using Adobe Flash Media Encoder as part of Vidego.

Multicast's Vidego Live Flash solution boasts one-step media player publishing, seamless integration with the Adobe Flash Media Encoder and streaming powered by the Akamai (News - Alert) distributed content delivery network.
