By Anamika Singh, TMCnet Contributor

Mitel (News - Alert), a provider of IP communications solutions for small and medium business, announced the immediate availability of its Mitel 3000 Communications System.

Targeted at residences and small offices, Mitel 3000 offers features such as conferencing, centralized voicemail, and an automated attendant for greeting and routing of incoming calls to make communications more efficient. It is equally suited for restaurants, retail, convenience stores, and professional business services such as law firms, insurance agencies, small healthcare facilities, and more.

The IP-centric Mitel 3000 communications system easily expands to accommodate up to 52 employees and multiple devices, including credit card terminals and fax machines.

"As IP telephony matures, businesses are looking at new ways to accrue increased business benefits while reducing the overall cost of ownership of their communications solutions," said Jeff Nolan, vice president of Canadian Sales for Mitel.

"It is this demand that makes the Mitel 3000 tremendously appealing to the SoHo and sub-50 market. The Mitel 3000 builds on our leadership in the SMB market providing smaller businesses with rich features and flexible configurations to make communicating with customers and colleagues easy, affordable, and simple to install and use," said Nolan.

As per the company it has approximately 25 per cent of customers in the sub-400 user category in Canada. In fact industry research firm InfoTech recently recognized Mitel as the leader of the U.S. SMB IP telephony market in 2007, well ahead of competitors like Cisco, Avaya (News - Alert) and Nortel.

Mitel has been entering into reseller agreements to expand distribution of its products. Recently, Mitel and Worldnet Telecommunications agreed to deliver communications solutions to small and medium businesses. The Mitel SMB portfolio to be resold by WorldNet includes the Mitel 1000 and the Mitel 3000 Communications System, a unified phone portfolio ranging from cost-effective entry level phones to full-featured IP sets, and powerful but simple unified applications solutions. It also has signed distribution agreement with Telecom Argentina (News - Alert).
