SeaChange and Argela Team up to Develop Solutions for Growing IPTV market
By Nathesh TMCnet Contributing Editor SeaChange International (News - Alert) and Turkey-based Argela will jointly develop advanced telecom solutions to cater the need of the rapidly growing IPTV market.
An estimate by research outfit SNL Kagan says IPTV (News - Alert) will reach at least 46 million subscribers globally by 2012. And the companies say their offerings will be helpful for telco operators to provide telephony, messaging, Internet access, mobility services, VOD and personal video recording services.
SeaChange International is a provider of software applications, services and integrated solutions for video-on-demand (VOD), digital advertising, and content acquisition monetization and management.
Argela provides telecom operators with turn-key next generation solutions with commitment to develop products and services, understanding operators’ needs, customizing solutions accordingly and building a continuous relationship with its partners and customers.
Turk Telekon, a European telecommunications company is the first customer of this partnership. Turk Telekom (News - Alert) also receives systems integration and professional services from SeaChange.
“We are excited to be working closely with Argela to deliver both services and products to Turk Telekom,” said Simone Sassoli, SeaChange’s Vice President, Broadband Networks, Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Both companies are committed to expanding the types of services that enrich the overall video viewing experience and increase subscriber loyalty and revenues for operators worldwide.”
For the IPTV market, Argela offers Argela Multiplay SDP (service delivery platform) which provides an IPTV solution based on IMS architecture using SDP components. This allows the operator to differentiate itself from the main stream IPTV operators by the means of convergence, ubiquity and interactivity while preserving the basic IPTV functionality with enhanced channel change performance and highly scalable and integration friendly architecture.
Argela says that they will bring their expertise of developing, deploying and maintaining these types of services to their new partnership with SeaChange. While SeaChange maintains that their experience of working for telcos like Verizon (News - Alert), NTT-Communications (OnDemandTV) and Telus would come in handy for them.
Hakan Erdemli, Argela's vice president of Sales and Marketing, said: “SeaChange and Argela are combining our deep know-how and experience for a best-of-breed IPTV solution. The joint solution will allow operators to offer IPTV service; hence increase revenues and customer loyalty through innovative and distinguished services. We are confident that our strong partnership with SeaChange will allow us to keep bringing value to our customers globally.” Nathesh is a contributing editor for TMCnet.
