Mellanox Technologies, a supplier of semiconductor-based server and storage interconnect products, and Teranetics have announced the introduction of an integrated device which enables 10GBASE-T LAN-on-Motherboard (LOM) controllers for server and storage OEMs.

 

The ConnectX ENt, a PCIe 2.0 (5.0GT/s) device, delivers low power server Ethernet chip with dual 10GBASE-T ports for high-performance, low-latency, and high availability. ConnectX ENt supports virtualization acceleration features like NetQueue and SR-IOV. It also supports I/O consolidation fabrics such as Data Center Ethernet (DCE), Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) and InfiniBand over Ethernet (IBoE).

Kamal Dalmia, vice president of marketing at Teranetics (News - Alert), explained that by using Teranetics’ 10GBASE-T PHY technology, Mellanox ConnectX ENt delivers RJ-45 connectivity for 10GigE in mainstream servers. ConnectX ENt employs a fully integrated MAC/PHY combo for offering OEMs a power optimized device cost-effectively.

 

Mellanox can support several cabling options like UTP, Twinax and CX4 for copper and SR, LR and LRM for fiber optics by its complete family of ConnectX EN 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapters. The ConnectX EN and ConnectX ENt adapters offer data centers increased availability, performance and QoS features.

 

Mellanox will be demonstrating the 10GigE Windows Hyper-V using ConnectX 10GigE adapter technology at Windows Hardware Engineering Conference in Los Angeles this week.
