SevOne Breaks Network Performance Management Price Barrier

By Anamika Singh, TMCnet Contributor

SevOne Inc., a company for network and application performance management tools and solutions, announced enhancements to its product, Performance Appliance Solution (PAS).

PAS correlates business and IT metrics, for specific customer requirements, and all this at a much lower price than existing legacy offerings. The enhancements will allow enterprise and Telco organizations to improve Quality of Service (QoS) delivery by importing any third-party data into reports, grouping NetFlow data into logical groups and polling WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation), also the VMware views.

Jay Scott, network capacity and performance engineer for Alere Medical, stated, "SevOne's new PAS release enables us to leverage WMI data to see much deeper into the performance of servers without the complexity and cost of agent deployments."

He also adds, "While this capability wasn't something that was available in their original product, SevOne worked with us and delivered on that feature set, just as they promised."

Some of the new PAS features are, Deferred Data, which allows business metrics or any third-party data to be imported and correlated with IT Metrics. Another feature, Baseline Graphing and Processing for looking at all data points within 60-minute time.

Logical Thresholds allows setting thresholds based on more than one condition for intelligent alerts. Netflow Enhancements includes Advanced Grouping to create categories of sortable groups. Object Grouping, Instant Status, and WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) are also some of the new features.

"Our newest PAS enhancements provide organizations improved reporting speed and streamlined visibility into their IT and business infrastructures," comments Vess Bakalov, CTO for SevOne. "We are especially proud to add WMI to our family of monitoring protocols and we will continue to add valuable new features based on customer requirements."

Noted author and analyst Dr. Jim Metzler of Ashton, Metzler and Associates, said, "IT managers must ensure that their organization chooses a tool that can quickly respond to current and emerging challenges associated with managing IT and business performance. SevOne delivers this capability in a single, easy-to-deploy and easy-to-use solution."
