StoneFly Announces SAS Expansion for Four S-Class Models in ISC Line of IP SANs
By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor
StoneFly, a supplier of integrated IP storage area network (SAN) systems announced the high-capacity SAS (News - Alert) expansion for all four S-Class models in its Integrated Storage Concentrator (ISC) line of IP SANs.
StoneFly (News - Alert) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dynamic Network Factory, Inc. (DNF). The company delivers SAS-configured IP SANs and the four S-Class models support SATA which provide SMBs with transaction-intensive applications and tiered storage flexibility.
The new S-Class ISC systems will be available apart from the existing SATA-only ISC models. The addition of SAS to the ISCs is expected to reduce the cost of expansion from $1.00 per GB previously to $ 0.80 per GB. Customers can expand up to 72 more disks on two of the S-Class models, the ISC-1602S and ISC-2402S, offering more options for storage scalability.
All four SAS/SATA models will support 450 GB SAS disks. These are large capacity drives suitable for SAS systems. S-Class ISC systems will have support for SATA disks up to 1TB.
“With organizations demanding more and more tiered storage capacity, along with the ability to scale quickly and easily, the ISC is positioned to deliver more storage flexibility than ever before for our customers,” said Bahman Jalali, director of product management for StoneFly, Inc. (News - Alert)
The ISC product line offers simple, rapid to deploy IP SAN in a box suitable for growing organizations. IP SAN functions within a single chassis are capable of virtualization, management and storage. The ISCs are based on the StoneFly StoneFusion operating system. The ISCs are flexible and deliver a full-featured IP SAN solution which can scale according to changing needs with configurations from 2 to 24 TB in a single mode.
The ISC line will now come standard with 6 Gigabit Ethernet ports or they can be upgraded to support dual 10G connections. The company also announced new retail pricing for the SATA configurations, SAS configuration and for its Hybrid Storage Concentrator (HSC) line of IP SANs in high availability (HA) configurations.
StoneFly Storage Concentrator Storage Virtualization Engine anchors StoneFly IP SANs. This offers quad core processing power, dedicated iSCSI cache and the StoneFusion IP SAN platform. This allows block-level provisioning, centralized storage management and advanced storage features like replication, mirroring and snapshotting.
StoneFly delivers simple and affordable storage optimization and disaster recovery protection through IP SAN solutions. StoneFly is a subsidiary of Dynamic Network Factory (News - Alert) which manufactures high-performance network attached storage, storage area networks, RAID and iSCSI systems.
