Symon Unveils New Digital Signage Products

By Divya Narain, TMCnet Contributor

Plano, Texas-based in-venue visual communications solutions provider Symon Communications says it’s launched the latest suite of digital signage products, including version 10 of Symon Enterprise Software, its content management and distribution solution.

The release marks a significant milestone in the evolution of digital signage and out-of-home network technologies, according to Charles Ansley, president and CEO of Symon.

The suite is a revolutionary advancement in visual communications technologies that Symon is well known for and that will allow the company to react quickly to market needs, customer requests and emerging trends, Ansley said.

“Our new platform and architecture expands our ability to create the very best digital signage applications thereby improving customers’ out-of-home networks and ultimately benefiting their clients,” he said.

The new suite also features an upgrade to content design and scheduling software and an enhanced version of its system administration software.

The digital signage market is fertile.

As TMCnet reported, though economic conditions present a short-term challenge for the technology, its market already has grown 34 percent in 2008 and is expected to continue its upward trend after next year, a Scottsdale, Arizona-based IT research firm says.

Officials at MultiMedia Intelligence say that the market has consumed 1.1 million digital signage displays this year, and is expected to consume nearly 2.3 million displays by 2012 – as the chart below right shows.

According to Frank Dickson, the firm’s chief research officer, the technology represents the next evolution of multi-platform advertising.

“The integration of IP-based network management allows an entire deployment of screens to be controlled from a single location, allowing for dynamic and simultaneous control of text, video and graphics,” Dickson said.

Officials at Symon say the company has also released, as part of the new suite, two new Microsoft (News - Alert) Vista-based media players and a new addition to its OnTarget content services offering Symon Real-Time Flight Information Services.

Powered by advanced technologies, Symon’s products offer customers a range of benefits. The open standards technology allows quick development and integration of new customer features. In addition, the products from Symon seamlessly deliver advanced graphics and sophisticated 3D animations. Another major advantage offered by Symon is centralised design, management and delivery of content and real-time information to various display end-points.

Symon products and software system are being widely used in contact centers, corporate communications networks, universities, retail, hospitality and gaming, supply chain management and third party logistics.

By regularly updating its products and introducing new ones, Symon fulfills its commitment to innovation. In 2006, TMCnet reported the launch of a new generation of it’s the Symon product line.
