DIGITALK Multiservice Platform Now Manages Nobel's IP and Prepaid Services

By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributor

Nobel, a Bermuda-based provider of telephony services, has chosen DIGITALK’sMultiservice Platform’ as the solution of choice for its IP (Internet protocol) and prepaid telephony services.

Nobel (News - Alert) said that it will be leveraging DIGITALK SIP Application Server, which is a part of Multiservice Platform, in order to deliver prepaid services to the North American market place.

According to Nobel, it was not able to respond quickly to the fast-moving telecommunications market. Keeping this in mind, the company decided that it was the right time to migrate its TDM (time-division multiplexing) based infrastructure onto an all IP service platform.

DIGITALK (News - Alert) Multiservice Platform facilitates service providers to deploy a range of applications over NGN (next generation networks), IP and traditional TDM networks with a complete suite of network operations and business support modules and interfaces. Its fully integrated Session Border Controller offers - 1+1 redundancy, failover and recovery with live session state maintenance as well as multi network and service capacity. This helps in enhancing service quality as well as traffic capacity, says company.

The key elements of the DIGITALK Multi-service Platform include - Media Application Server, Intelligent Switch, service creation, operations support and business support.

DIGITALK ‘Media Application Server’ is a SIP (session initiation protocol) Application Server with integral media server functions that will facilitate complete service execution. This all IP service execution environment can be either deployed as a standalone service platform or integrated with an operator’s existing NGN or IMS (IP multimedia subsystem) environment. It supports company’s service-ready applications, such as broadband telephony, IP virtual office, service numbers and prepaid calling cards. It is supported by company’s SIP Proxy for user agent registration and session load balancing.

DIGITALK’s Intelligent Switch is a hybrid TDM / IP service execution environment that can be deployed standalone or integrated within an operator’s existing PSTN and / or NGN environment.

With DIGITALK’s Multiservice platform, service providers can take advantage of STUDIO service creation environment, in order to create and adapt technology. The platform also features least cost carrier routing that will facilitate service providers to configure applications for immediate service rollout, said the company.

In addition, the DIGITALK Multiservice platform also offers real-time retail and wholesale service rating for both prepaid and post-paid services, which are supported by tariff management, balance management, on-line payments and business reporting, says company.

Apart from the key elements such as media application server or intelligent switch service execution environments, the DIGITALK Multiservice platform also incorporates data servers, Web servers, payments servers, and replication servers.

Nobel said that it offers online sales of prepaid phone cards via its NobelCom.com and EnjoyPrepaid.com websites and its customers are located in North America, Western Europe and Australia.

DIGITALK is a provider of independent communications platform and applications. Its service-ready applications include - prepaid calling card, broadband telephony, IP virtual office, service numbers and prepaid mobile.
