Mushroom Networks and HotSpot Partner to Optimize Broadband Bonding in Mexico
By Shamila Janakiraman TMCnet Contributor Mushroom Networks, Inc. specializing in broadband bonding technology, has announced a partnership and reseller agreement with HotSpot International. HotSpot provides turnkey high-speed Internet connectivity solutions in Mexico delivering broadband bonding to hotels and resorts.
This technology facilitates the bonding of multiple ADSL lines in a single shared connection for voice, video and data services. “What we are doing is truly unprecedented in terms of offering faster Internet at much lower costs to the Mexican market,” said Louie Miller, CEO of Miller International, parent company of HotSpot International. “We, as most business travelers, are dependent on the Internet and when on a trip expect equal to or better performance than at our office or home. By bonding inexpensive ADSL lines together, our hotels can satisfy their guests’ needs for speed while increasing capacity at a lower cost than dedicated T1/E1 connections.” Mushroom Networks’ (News - Alert) broadband bonding technology combines up to six broadband Internet connections of all types including DSL, cable, T1/E1 in a single high-speed link. The product lines used and the technology employed will be Ethernet-based and the installation between the broadband modems and local network require no changes in configuration to the network at the user site. This enable customers to mix and match several broadband services from various providers delivering built-in network redundancy. In case a bonded link fails or is degraded the traffic spreads across the remaining links in real-time preventing interruptions and also down time. HotSpot proposes to use Mushroom networks’ Broadband Bonding Service also for offering its hotel and resort customers a fast uplink connection for business critical applications like IP voice and video communications. Cahit Akin, co-founder and CEO of Mushroom Networks explained that as multimedia Internet traffic grows at exponential rates, consumer driven industries such as hospitality must cater to consumer demand for reliable, high-performance Internet services. The combination of readily available ADSL lines as a single ‘fat pipe’ allows HotSpot International to optimize its broadband solutions in such cases. HotSpot will be reselling Mushroom Networks line of Broadband Bonding solutions in Mexico. This includes solutions like Truffle (News - Alert) for large enterprises, Porcini for small to medium businesses, and PortaBella which is a new wireless solution that bonds multiple cellular data cards into a single shared connection. These products support built-in VoIP quality manager to minimize latency for inbound and outbound voice traffic and also improve voice quality. They include internal router and firewall capability besides supporting standard Internet services such as port-forwarding, port binding, WAN interface binding, static IP, dynamic IP, PPPoE, DHCP, DMZ, UPnP, and Dynamic DNS.
