Iskratel and GENBAND Enable High Density Metro Networks
By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor
Iskratel’s SI3000 Call Server (SI3000 CS) is now interoperable with GENBAND’s G9 Converged Gateway. By incorporating the GENBAND (News - Alert) G9 Gateway into their solution portfolio, Iskratel has been able to strengthen its position in high-capacity metropolitan networks market.
The partnership provides other benefits as well since the G9 platform allows the SI3000 CS softswitch to interoperate with mobile networks.
The SI3000 CS controls NGN elements and exercises service, call and connection control. The solution provides the carrier with seamless interoperability, whether offering services in a mixed TDM–NGN environment or whether fully migrating from a TDM to an NGN solution.
GENBAND's G9 Gateway (News - Alert) mediates between circuit-switched telephone and IP-based packet networks. By translating signaling and other protocols between the two, the gateway enables operators to offer a wider suite of subscriber services on existing network infrastructures without spending money on additional investments.
Iskratel already has a strong presence in Eastern and Central European markets, and this interoperability strengthens both companies’ portfolios for the European urban networking segment.
According to Aleš Potocnik, head of Iskratel's Product Management, the tested and approved solution with both elements was configured and realized in a very short time. This indicates that both companies have products that help the carriers deploy the infrastructure in the smallest possible amount of time.
“We’re pleased to combine the carrier-class capabilities of our products to facilitate next generation networking for operators,” said Mehmet Balos, GENBAND’s chief marketing officer.
Balos noted that both companies share a common commitment and a very good track record in transitioning networks to IP without costly equipment replacement.
“Our shared synergies in maximizing operator networks make us ideal partners.”
Both companies are participating in the Mobile World Congress (News - Alert) in Barcelona. Iskratel is displaying a comprehensive range of wireless and wireline communications solutions for carriers and enterprises. GENBAND is highlighting its S-series Security Gateways and G9 Packet Access Gateway in the femtocell ecosystem product.
