Infoblox (News - Alert), a solution provider for next-generation approach to IP address management (IPAM) for the enterprise, recently announced availability of several new IP address management tools, which include the new Infoblox IP Address Manager module, an appealing graphical user interface that consolidates and automates layers of manual tasks, saving time, reducing errors and lowering costs.

While some enterprises still continue to stick on to manual processes and use primitive tools like spreadsheets to allocate IP addresses and perform recording and tracking activities of IP devices, these inefficient processes can often lead to increased downtime and troubleshooting costs, as mistakes occur inevitably. This in turn results in stress among IT personnel, who are already under heavy workloads.

IP space and devices are critical assets of an organization, and in order to maintain robust network information pertaining to them must be accurate, consistent and available.

A recent survey of over 200 enterprises disclosed incremental costs per IP device as each new device is added. These costs are hard to control as they are distributed among different teams including the network team, server team, and help desk. With the number of devices being added to the network in constant rise, these challenges are increasing, consuming a larger proportion of already constrained IT budgets.

"With the right IPAM tools, enterprises today can achieve new levels of automation, reducing administrative cycles and realizing dramatic cost savings. Now a tool is available that leapfrogs the limited alternatives of the past: the new Infoblox IP Address Manager module that essentially does for IP address management what iTunes did for managing music," said Richard Kagan, vice president of Marketing at Infoblox.

The new IP Address Manager Module Provides higher Levels of Ease and Automation. Infoblox IP Address Manager which has a browser-based, task-optimized interface provides a new IPAM model for both beginners and experts. It allows error-free data entry and extensive data accessibility. These tools facilitate administrators to identify used and unused network space and a specific network's composition. The new IP Address Manager allows quick and efficient data entry, with provisions for error checking and prevention.
