Aruba Networks' New Branch Office Controller Product Line Secures Best of Interop Award

By Shireen Dee, TMCnet Contributor

Aruba Networks, Inc., a provider of wireless Local Area Networks and secure mobility solutions, recently announced that its new product line, the 600 Series Branch Office Controllers (BOCs), has won the 2009 Best of Interop (News - Alert) Awards in the wireless and mobility class. With this Aruba’s products have gained recognition from InformationWeek Analytics, a content service for business technology forerunners, and Interop, the global business technology event series.

Aruba’s BOCs have been built as a "branch-in-a-box" solution with the provision to handle up to 256 users and feature a robust build by incorporating features such as broad range of Wide Area Network connectivity, network-attached storage, gigabit Ethernet, power-over-Ethernet (PoE), Express Card, USB options along with integrated 802.11n Wi-Fi radio option.

Aruba has unveiled its new Virtual Branch Network (VBN) solution of which the BOCs constitute a part. VBN provides secure and transparent connectivity amongst remote users across enterprise applications and virtualizes complicated data center controller tasks and thrusts the same to Remote Access Points (RAPs) and BOCs for execution, which is cheaper. The solutions advantages include simplified management of branch offices, clinics, home offices, and teleworkers, along with easy set-up, which in turn reduce IT overheads and lower costs.

"As many enterprises transition from traditional offices and cube farms to remote sites, virtual offices, and telecommuting, the benefits of Aruba's zero-touch remote management are clear: simplified configuration and management, reduced deployment costs, and smaller hardware footprint at remote locations. Combined with options for network attached storage, 3G cellular connectivity, and wireless mesh services, the Aruba 600 Branch Office Controller covers all the bases for a branch office in a box solution, no matter where the branch office may be," said Michael Brandenburg of InformationWeek.

There was stiff competition with 160 plus products vying for the Best of Interop awards. Michael Brandenburg of InformationWeek and David Molta of Syracuse University were judges of the Wireless and Mobility category.

"The 600 Series Branch Office Controllers represent a major advancement in remote networking, offering a feature-rich branch office solution that works independently or can be centrally managed," said Keerti Melkote (News - Alert), co-founder and chief technology officer of Aruba.

Aruba Networks, Inc. is a networking vendor selling enterprise wireless LAN and edge access networking equipment. Aruba's core products are access points, mobility controllers, and network management software. The company is listed on the NASDAQ and Russell 2000 Index.
