FaxBack Intros VoIP Plug-in for Microsoft Fax
By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor
FaxBack, a provider of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) fax solutions, has announced a VoIP plug-in for Microsoft (News - Alert) Fax, offered at no cost.
The new plug-in enables users of Windows operating systems to send and receive faxes using Microsoft Fax when connected to a VoIP phone system. This facility eliminates the need of expensive or complex hardware configurations otherwise required.
“Small businesses migrating to VoIP can now take advantage of the Microsoft Fax application that comes with Windows,” said Mike Oliszewski, chief technology officer at FaxBack (News - Alert), in a statement. “This simple download enables these users to have a reliable, yet simple VoIP faxing solution that offers additional faxing options and Microsoft Office integration.”
Microsoft Fax is already included in business versions of Windows operating systems. It can be connected to business’ VoIP infrastructure very quickly. Once connected, all users in the company can send fax from their desktop.
The VoIP Fax systems include Microsoft Response Point, local VoIP media gateways and VoIP Service Providers supporting SIP T.38.
Microsoft Fax also features DID routing to route inbound faxes to specific users. The routing rules are added to local VoIP media gateway. Thus users will be able to automatically route inbound faxes directly to the intended recipients desktop.
Users can also install the VoIP Plug-in for Microsoft Fax on their Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS). With this, they can make the VoIP fax server always available to receive faxes. With the SBS version of the VoIP Fax Plug-in for Microsoft Fax, the Plug-in is installed on the SBS server instead of individual workstations.
The FaxBack technology is certified by Microsoft and leading carriers including AT&T (News - Alert), Qwest, and Global Crossing, among others, officials said.
FaxBack had showcased its Fax Machine Integration Server at the ITEXPO at the Miami Beach Conference Center in Miami, Florida. The fax server plug-in turns fax machines into clients of the NET (News - Alert) SatisFAXtion VoIP fax server.
Directly linking fax machines to the fax server helps businesses track and archive fax images, and integrate fax into document workflows, officials claimed.
