D-Link Leverages Father's Day Sentiments To Promote Products

By Vivek Naik, TMCnet Contributor

D-Link has already started marketing three of its select products, any one of which would make an ideal Father’s Day gift. The company says the products it is talking about are the DIR-825 Xtreme N Gigabit Router, the DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure, and the DCS-920 Wireless G Network Camera.

As TMCnet has earlier reported, the DIR-825 Xtreme N Gigabit Router includes a dual-band access feature that creates two simultaneous networks to provide users with faster Wi-Fi and wired gigabit speeds, SharePort technology, better clarity and HD Fuel enhanced Quality of Service (QoS).

Its SharePort USB feature, adds TMCnet’s report, can transform the local USB port on the back of the 802.11n family of Wi-Fi routers into a virtual point which responses at a fast rate using the new USB over TCP/IP and allows users to thereby access various USB devices.

The DIR-825 device is environment friendly, TMCnet reported, since it includes the D-Link (News - Alert) Green Ethernet technology which has an energy saving feature that has the capability to detect link status and network cable length and adjust power in accordance with that. It allows for further energy conservation with the Wi-Fi scheduling feature which enables users to program the times when Wi-Fi radio signals will be turned on and off.

This device also leverages the rapidly improving infrastructure and the still growing market trend, as earlier reported on TMCnet, which indicates that mobile or wireless broadband (Wi-B (News - Alert)) usage has sky-rocketed by 84 percent from 2007 to 2008 and that by 2013 more than 33 percent of all mobile subscribers will be Wi-B enabled.

Company officials say that the DNS-323 2-Bay Network Storage Enclosure, pictured below, is a storage device, which when  used with two internal 3.5" SATA drives, allows sharing of documents, files, and digital media such as music, photos, and video with other machines connected on the network. It, too, has D-Link’s Green Technology that automatically powers the device down when not in use to save energy and costs.

The company says that its DCS-920 Wireless G Network Camera, pictured below, is an affordable option for students to stay visually in touch when away at school, or to help keep the home safe and secure. It connects easily to an existing network and streams high quality MJPEG video.

Earlier TMCnet has reported about a company hoping that its artificially generated excitement over Mother’s Day would result in increased sales, and TMCnet’s comment at that time was, “Nothing wrong with this line of thinking in this down economy where any far-fetched and wacky method that succeeds in getting business is deemed as good, innovative marketing strategy. ”
