Bothell, WA based Allied Telesis has reportedly joined the Metro Ethernet Forum (News - Alert), a worldwide industry interest group that works towards promoting the global migration to Carrier Ethernet networks and services. Allied Telesis (News - Alert) has proven track record in providing secure IP/Ethernet switching solutions and in deploying IP Triple-Play networks.
The MEF boasts a membership of over 150 equipment manufacturers, service providers, and testing organizations. The group encourages the adoption of standards, architectures, technologies, and applications for both Ethernet-based IP systems and carrier Ethernet-based services. The MEF has been successful in persuading the telecommunications industry to create interoperability specifications for multi-vendor equipment.
"Allied Telesis is a valuable addition to the Metro Ethernet Forum," said Nan Chen, MEF president. "Allied Telesis has a significant commitment to Carrier Ethernet technology in its product line, and will certainly benefit from membership as well as be in a great position to make valuable contributions to the forum."
Allied Telesis will begin right away, the MEF certification testing for carrier-class Ethernet products, including Layer 3 Ethernet switching products, multi-service access platforms, and carrier Ethernet home gateway devices used by service providers and municipalities worldwide.
"As a pioneer in Ethernet platforms for service provider networks since 1987, Allied Telesis has a vested interest in the work of the MEF," said Dan Stellick, vice president, Interop (News - Alert) Design and Testing, Allied Telesis. "We are pleased to become a member of this prestigious organization, and are looking forward to becoming a significant contributor on behalf of our customers worldwide."
For the past 20 years, Allied Telesis has been enabling the delivery of data, voice, and video services to a host of clients worldwide. Committed to the development of Carrier Ethernet network and services, the company has recently introduced several new Ethernet switches, says a TMCnet report.
