Phone Power Acquires Broadvox's Residential Customer Base

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

Dallas-based managed VoIP services provider Broadvox (News - Alert), has announced it chose a Los Angeles, California-based broadband telephone company to take over its residential customer base.

Phone Power, which offers telephone services to the continental U.S. and Canada, will take over Broadvox’s direct residential VoIP customers – helping to further grow the provider’s coverage areas across the nation to more Tier 2 markets and to reach further into Canada.

"Broadvox and Phone Power have built a long and productive relationship over the years, and we are excited to welcome these new customers to the Phone Power family," added Ari Ramezani, Phone Power CEO.

Officials said the transfer will occur in stages, beginning on Tuesday, September 15, and will be completed in early October. Also, all services and rates will continue to be offered uninterrupted during the switch.

“Broadvox made a decision to engage in B2B products several years ago," said David Byrd (News - Alert), Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Broadvox. "Upon making that decision we needed to also understand our responsibilities regarding our residential customer base. Discontinuing service and disrupting their phone support was not an option. Phone Power and Broadvox determined that this was the best path forward for the customers and both companies. Phone Power gains a customer base and Broadvox can focus on supporting and growing its SMB and enterprise SIP Trunking business.”

For business customers, Broadvox recently announced interoperability with NEC (News - Alert) Unified Solutions’ UNIVERGE SV8100 and UX5000 IP communications servers.

Together, NEC’s UNIVERGE IP communication servers and Broadvox’s GO SIP Trunking offering, provide affordable IP communications with support for digital, wired and wireless networks.
