Smoothstone Simplifies Communications for National Law Firm
By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor
Unified IP communications services provider Smoothstone has reportedly consolidated all of Constangy’s locations onto a single, MPLS-based platform for voice, data, internet, security and unified messaging.
Constangy, Brooks & Smith is a national labor and employment law firm with over 250 employees in 19 offices across the country. The company spent a lot of time managing their many different technologies for telephone and wide area network connectivity. They decided to replace their existing infrastructure with a comprehensive solution.
The IT department evaluated a number of solutions in the market and finally decided to deploy Smoothstone (News - Alert) IP Communications. The company consolidated all of their locations onto a single, MPLS-based platform for voice, data, internet, security and unified messaging.
According to a press release, Smoothstone gave Constangy’s IT team the visibility and control it needed over its environment to make managing everyday communications simple and easy. Constangy is using Cisco (News - Alert)-based equipment and an efficient network infrastructure for improved internal productivity.
"We chose Smoothstone for many reasons. During our analysis of the solutions, we had to decide if we wanted to invest in the resources to manage our telecommunications locally or outsource it to a provider," said David Grow, the firm's director of information technology, in the release. "We chose to take advantage of Smoothstone's expertise in the industry."
Grow noted that Smoothstone's solution fits perfectly into its overall disaster recovery/business continuity plan. He said he is pleased with the way Smoothstone understood how much Constangy relies on its communication systems to serve its clients. Smoothstone completely understood the problem and thus as part of implementing the solution, they established comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery plans for all their locations.
Jeff Wellemeyer (News - Alert), president and CTO of Smoothstone, said it was easy to understand Constangy’s problem since they have helped many other companies struggling with similar complexity challenges.
"We were happy to help them, and found it very rewarding to be able to deliver exactly the right managed solution to simplify and streamline their communications. We know it will allow them to be more productive than ever before," he added.
