Forrester Calls AT&T a Leader in Managed Global MPLS Services

AT&T is among the few companies in Forrester (News - Alert) Research’s independent report “The Forrester Wave: Managed Global Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) Services, Q4 2009” credited as a leader in global MPLS services, the carrier announced this week.

 
In this report, AT&T (News - Alert) achieved the maximum scores in both parameters of strategy and market presence. AT&T was also cited as having the most robust sales function and the strongest set of financial statements. The report states that AT&T’s score for its 2009-2010 “strategic plans for network and MPLS service portfolio enhancement and its customer stickiness program are well above average compared with other providers evaluated.”
 
In order to understand the true extent of the managed global MPLS services segment and also get a first-hand look at how prominent international network operator service providers measure up against each other, independent research agency Forrester had embarked on formulating the report. Forrester evaluated strengths and weaknesses of nine managed global MPLS service providers and analyzed each one’s performance on an extensive set of 54 parameters broadly classified into three categories: Current Offering, Strategy and Market Presence.
 
AT&T was found to deliver connections to their customers on one of the world’s strongest and most revolutionary IP/MPLS network. It reportedly uses cutting-edge, advanced routing technology that is capable of transporting data at a lightning fast speed of 40 Gbps. More than 102,000 wavelength miles of AT&T’s long-haul network utilize the cutting edge technology. This helps the company deliver four times capacity over previous connection levels.
