Ad Insertion Patents from Single Touch Systems Become More Relevant

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

Google’s recent purchase of Admob for $750 million underscores the relevance of Ad Insertion patents from Single Touch Systems, industry officials said.

According to Anthony Macaluso, CEO of Single Touch Interactive (News - Alert), ads are inserted into the hands of several hundred million U.S. mobile phones. Since this ad insertion needs to be done legally, patents are becoming highly relevant. Macaluso holds many patents and has established himself as a successful inventor, cross licensing many patents prior to founding Single Touch Interactive in 2002.

Single Touch Systems acquired The Patent Portfolio in June. The Patent Portfolio contains multiple patents and patents pending related to mobility. This includes patents on streaming advertising media to mobile devices. The Patent Portfolio represents a managed media solution for building nationally scalable marketing campaigns for mobile devices across carriers. The addition of these patents to Single Touch's existing e-commerce related patent filings further strengthens its position.

Single Touch Systems, Inc. provides wireless operators, consumer brands and retailers with innovative mobile commerce delivery solutions. Single Touch's Patent Pending technology drives adoption by reaching new data subscribers, generating new revenue streams for carriers and content owners. The Abbreviated Dial Code program makes downloading content to a mobile phone as easy as making a phone call, while the Mobile Machine helps consumers download content from the Web to a mobile device with its simple drag and drop interface. Another STI program is Listen Live Now, which brings live concerts straight to the mobile phone.

Single Touch System's ADC (News - Alert) platform is customizable to the needs of brands and retailers. It creates whatever reporting is required and also facilitates operator direct billing for all services.

In addition, ADCs let consumers use their mobile phones as proxy wallets or brand/retail environments by dialing short, branded phone numbers. Abbreviated dial codes, mobile coupon platform, listen live now, mobile microphone and other programs make Single Touch Systems a leading mobile commerce company. Thus, Single Touch Systems drives revenue for operators, retailers and brands and streamlines purchasing options for the end user, the company said.
