Infoblox Unveils New Version of Infoblox NIOS Software
By Divya Narain, TMCnet Contributor
Infoblox Inc. has announced the new version of Infoblox (News - Alert) NIOS software. Infoblox NIOS version 5.0r1 comes with additional features including domain name resolution (DNS), IP address assignment (DHCP) and IP Address Management (IPAM) -- or DDI.
The new version is powered by Infoblox's proprietary Grid technology. It consolidates and automates layers of traditionally complex and manual core network services related tasks, saving time, reducing errors and lowering costs. It is also equipped with new features for logging and compliance. It provides industry’s only DNSSEC solution with fully automated key management and key rollover.
With the updated Infoblox Grid Manager, NIOS version 5.0r1 becomes the only solution on the market that manages all aspects of the system with a single Web-based graphical user interface (GUI) without requiring the use of client software, command-line tools, root access to appliances or other interfaces to accomplish critical tasks.
Unlike rival products, the new release eliminates the need for using client software or command line tools or gaining root access to appliances in order to configure protocols or install software patches.
In addition, the release 5.0r1 features new task scheduling capabilities that allow queuing of management tasks for execution at user designated times.
In a release, Infoblox Vice President of Marketing Richard Kagan said 'Just last month, Infoblox was recognized by Gartner (News - Alert) as the DDI market leader and the Infoblox solution was the only system to receive Gartner's highest 'Strong Positive' rating. Infoblox NIOS version 5.0r1 further extends our lead and provides significant benefits to our customers.”
Pricing for the solution on the Infoblox-250 appliance starts at $2,495 in the U.S. Software upgrades are available free of cost for all current customers with a valid maintenance contract.
Infoblox appliances are ideal for utility-grade core network services such as domain name resolution (DNS) and IP address assignment and management (DHCP and IPAM), authentication (RADIUS). The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company has provided the essential 'glue' between networks and applications to over 2,200 organizations worldwide, including over 100 of the Fortune 500.
