SyberWorks e-Learning Podcast Highlights AICC's Salient Features
By Mini Swamy, TMCnet Contributor
SyberWorks Inc., a firm known for its custom e-learning solutions and the Learning Management industry, announced the next episode in its e-Learning Podcast Series, 'How an AICC Online Course Works with a Learning Management System.'
The podcast was about an interview with Stuart Campbell, director of software development for SyberWorks, regarding his article, “AICC and the LMS,” in which he discussed the structure of an AICC course, and highlighted its salient features.
Campbell said that the course was essentially file based, where the course file, the descriptor file and all other connecting files existed on the system itself. The interview also threw light as to where all the information was stored and how the course became an AICC course on LMS.
Highlighting its features, Campbell said that an AICC course had its advantages. Because of the cross domain course content, a user could have a course whose content didn't actually reside on the server, but resided with AICC. This could be accessed from an LMS, across the Internet. It could be recorded, the scores could be recorded, and even the time could be recorded, but the actual content didn't exist on the server.
Most customers who look to implement AICC, look for cross domain content. This would ensure that they're not responsible for content, either being on a hosted server or their own server, but it is still taken care of by someone else. This was the strong point about AICC.
Campbell, a native of the United Kingdom, had previously served as a principle software engineer, senior consultant, senior software engineer, and development specialist for companies such as Brooks Automation (News - Alert) Inc., Digital Equipment, and Honeywell Control Systems.
